Replaced the K&N drop-in filters with OEM paper filters (Febi Bilstein), as I prefer better filtration over a little more throughput. I don’t think I will notice the difference with my standard CLS55 AMG.
Replaced the cabin filter as I did not know when it was last replaced. I was unaware that Mann had a new type of filter, which transcends the pollen and active carbon filter type.
Their FreciousPlus series is also anti-bacterial, making you stay as healthy as possible within your car 🙂 I used Mann FP3172 for the CLS55. As you can see, it needs to be replaced every year or 15.000km.
Replaced the Airmatic air filter, which makes sure that dirt & debris stay out of the Airmatic system. Mercedes uses a fuel filter, repurposed as an air filter for this system. The partnumber is: WK 32/6 (Mann filter)
I wanted to replace the stock air pipe, as it contains a resonator which keeps it silent. It’s also not optimised, leaving room for improvement.
Used 2 aluminium joiners/couplers and flexible piping. Very happy with this cost effective result! Also, I love the supercharger whine 🙂
I also ordered a K&N RU-3190 filter, I didn’t know the previous owner fitted a Pipercross PX1875. In the end I sold the K&N as the fitment wasn’t good.
Decided to buy a panel filter from JR / Jetex. Build quality is nice, but could be better. Fitment looked like 100%, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
I tried to modify it a little bit, but that went wrong and I had to throw it away.
Bought a new BSR Optiflow kit as I wanted a little bit more blowoff + compressor noise. I can also fit my Velocity Stack filter (150mm diameter).
It has been sold in the meantime as the extra induction noise does not fit the S80 to be honest.
BSR Kit: 4900705
Max HP: 410 HP
Performed the swiss cheese mod, or wak box / wakbox or whatever you want to call it to the lower part of the airbox. Sounds a little bit better & seems to have a little impact on the butt dyno.
Also fitted a new paper OEM air filter.
