Volvo S80 2.4T Fitting a new Compressor Bypass Valve (CBV)
Posted in Blog Entries, Volvo S80 2.4T
I noticed some strange behaviour when lifting the throttle and decided to service the CBV aka Compressor Bypass Valve. I was right, car drives a lot better after replacing it with a fresh CBV / DV (Diverter Valve).
I went with an aftermarket TRITDT K5T09671.
Was that easy to replace? i am repacing at my XC90 2.5t – but with Properfect CBV piston type.
Hi Pawel,
Yes, it wasnt that bad. The S80 has a very long engine bay and I am not that tall. So I had to lie down on the engine to get it done from the top haha. Its only 3 bolts, but the bottom bolt is way easier to reach from the bottom of the car.
I also had the ProPerfect one > https://www.ducked.nl/blog-entries/volvo-s80-2-4t-properfekt-cbv-diverter-blowoff-valve/ , which is a good upgrade over the stock unit.
Eventually I did a conversion to an external one (Forge 006) which works even better (faster response + more cooler air is diverted). See: https://www.flickr.com/photos/andyramdin/49434771107/in/album-72157694648668714/
I have also Properfect one. My engine id similar B5254t2 at XC90. Engine bay is the same since platform P2 at S80 and XC90 share same floor:)
I found that it worked better than the stock unit, as it has actual rubber seals instead of hard plastic. It isn’t a common mod you see on our cars, even though its a cheap & effective upgrade!
